I feel this song is speaking of defying the natural order ("fate" if you will) of things, seemingly in this song a relationship that perhaps fate ("the clouds exclaimed") has already deemed as unsalvageble, and yet we fight against that outcome...we "run away" from the voice and resist the obvious conclusion.
