I liked this song until I paid attention to the meaning, now it just annoys me. I am politically liberal but it isn't the U.S.'s job to take care of the world. I understand the war is stupid but we're in and we can't just drop it because there was a tsunami halfway across the world.
Think of countries as a family. You are doing well financially but you aren't filthy rich, You have a vacation planned it's not important just fun but someone in another neighborhood finds out they're dying from cancer. Are you about to cancel your vacation to pay for their treatment? Maybe if it was someone in your family but not for strangers miles away.
Our government needs to help americans but doesn't have to help everyone in the world.
