I'm not fantastic at analysing so you'll have to exscuse me! Basically i believe this song is about falling in love at a young age, and wanting to do everything together. However time is short. I think Adam's realising their life isn't going to last forever and they want to fit everything in before they die.
However, i think something went wrong, and they broke up, therefore leaving Adam alone. Or perhaps it's not Adam? Perhaps it's just a metaphor for someone else? I imagine many people go thorugh heart break everyday, and this song is just another love song.
