I think this song is basically Elijah's prayer. It is about a Christian who is asking God to use him to preach the Gospel. He is asking God to use the example of how much he has been changed to show that God is real and does have a lasting effect. As for the main line "chew the stitches until you taste the blood" my interpretation is we use sinful and wordly things to fill the void within ourselves and "chew the stitches" is referring to getting rid of those until you reach God's love, "the blood. In the chorus, when he says, "I can't believe I'm alive after my attempts to feed the pain." I believe he is referring to depression. The bridge is fairly obvious, as he is just stating that we are monsters, but working as a group we are stronger and more resistant. When the chorus says "You are the new sign of proof a calloused heart can still be reached" I believe that is supposed to be another person (or God) saying that his life is proof in God itself because how much he has overcome. At the end, he declares that him and the other saved "rebel dogs" will fight against the World until their deaths and will give no compromise.
