It's interesting how there isn't anyone giving their interpretation on the song. The meaning is/seems very clear; "You got to answer to yourself, you can't depend on anyone else", with a little tip "You got to write down what you know". Couldn't be more clear, no? The Soft Pack is trying to encourage people to do their best in life, etc.
Still, somehow, I usually dislike songs like these. I often even detest songs that try to make you feel better (like a lot of pop-songs do these days). It just feels like they are lying to me, because humanity is imperfect.
Still, I always loved listening to this song. I wondered why, since it doesn't encourage me to do anything either. Last night when I was singing it I realized that I didn't put myself as the listener I am, but I put myself in the shoes of the singer.
When I listen to music, let's say Nirvana singing "I'm so ugly, but that's okay" (Lithium), I put myself in the spot of the singer. I know I like to help people that need to be encouraged (spend enough time on dA, haha), and I know I will never hit it big time myself, since I am just not talented.
I don't really know what the singer is getting at with "I think I'm gonna die, before I see my time", but to me it doesn't matter if it's genuine or just sung because it sounds good; I feel it. It feels right.
So here I was wondering whether other people look at this song from the singer's perspective too, and whether people actually gone through live changing action because of this song. It is definitely powerful enough.
TL;DR, what are you doing on this page? I know it's a wall of text but it's all there is here right now. Shut up ;p
