To try to take it out of place and ascribe some individual meaning to it outside the context of the whole album is the same as taking one stanza of a poem, or small slice of a painting, and trying to determine what the artist intended without looking at the rest of the work. Just read the lyrics for the whole album as a story and it'll all make sense.
