Ed Sheeran, the writer of the song, said this song is about a girl dying and her boyfriend committing suicide because he cannot handle living without her. In the first verse, (Liam's part) it says, 'I wanna be with you, I wanna feel your love, I wanna lay beside you, I cannot I hide this even though I try.' He basically is saying he misses her and he is trying to hide his pain but failing to do so. The chorus is saying that the girl is his life in general, and can't live without her. In Niall's verse, its saying that he's locking himself away in his room from the rest of the world, and thinking everything over. 'My judgement is clouded, like tonight's sky.' is saying that he isn't thinking clearly about the decision he is about to make. Louis' verse probably means that he isn't turning back and going through with suicide. Zayn's verse adds up to the end of the song's plot/story line. He is getting ready to jump and then suddenly his whole life flashes before his eyes, his childhood to him being in the relationship with the girl. In the end, he ends up jumping. (I think Harry's short verse before the chorus is just saying he wishes he could've been there with her before she died.)
