I agree with you guys, but I think its more about your own personal fear when facing the world. The "rain" FEELS like the end of the world, which is why you buy their message that it is.
And I think it says that its true that religion helps you live without fear, to find your inner strength by giving you rules and conviction.
However, you can find it without religion, you can overcome your existential fears if you look deep enough into yourself.
Science here is then perception that allows us to recognize the world once we overcome our fear, and why science does not automatically win and religion has more power over people
