i think this song is about how an atheist / non believer has spent their time through all life avoiding and dismissing any belief of afterlife, god, and the time has come where they are going to die - but afraid because they don't know what to be or do if there is nothing to see beyond the grave. that's why they'd rather die in flames to ensure they can't see anything or feel anything, and why they run in fear to hide from the inevitable (live a ghost, if such thing can exist). basically non believers of god experiencing their time is up and it finally hits them that they hope to see or experience something after death, instead of just being dead and forgotten. the music video for this also is pretty much images from graveyards, there was no war or guns, or explosions.
