In my opinion that song is about a guy recieving a rabbit as a present from a girl that is in one-way love with him. He's not overthinking about the meaning of the present (he's just sick and tired about it), while she thinks he doesn't love her because he's the terrible/perfect lonely guy (that's why he would need a rabbit to keep him company). So he has to take the rabbit with him also when all he wanted to do is taking Dexedrine lying down on a field.
