First, Martin's vocals are amazing on this track!! So smooth, rich, and beautiful.
This is off of Ultra, which Depeche Mode didn't do a tour for because of Dave's heroin use and overdose. I feel like that Martin probably wrote this with that in mind. How can one be consistently drawn to something that leaves you with such terrible consequences? Cats hate water, moths die flying into flames, why keep doing those things. Sometimes we are inexplicably drawn to things only to suffer from them.
I love that the song is vague which lets the listener add in whatever is their sinful/destructive weakness.
