Lyric discussion by musicrocks13

This was written by Greg Wells, American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and Katy Perry a couple of years before it was recorded by Clarkson. Clarkson told Newsweek that she met Katy Perry "before 'I Kissed a Girl' blew up. I liked her writing. It was really unique." The song was produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Daughtry, Hoobastank). In this defiant song, Clarkson is warning a potential lover not to expect sex. Katy Perry originally recorded this song for her One of the Boys album. She explained to MTV News that it eventually didn't make it onto the set, as "there were so many different songs and there were only 12 slots allotted for the record, so... it was kind of one of those songs that was just, like, still there. And Kelly Clarkson heard it. I guess she liked it, and she recorded it - and another song too."

Don't know how you got voted down for a factual response, but ok. This song always made more sense to me as a Kelly Clarkson song because I don't think it would sound genuine coming from Katy Perry. Also, check out the cover that The Gaslight Anthem did for Radio 1's Live Lounge. It's an amazing soulful take on this song and it really makes the lyrics shine.
