Children Of The Sea Lyrics

This song seems mythic in character. As an aside, ancient societies turned what we call astronomy into stories or myths. The zodiac is a calendar that once guided us through the seasons. Nothing to do with astrology in this sense. It measures time, the ages, like any other calendar and here - the seasons. A time machine as its measurer and witness. The sea is the sea of the heavens where constellations swirl and dance like gods or demons, as we are, perhaps children of real oceans at one time, and part of the grand pattern we see in the sky. We evolved and cannot go back as children of the sea. Although this song has a doomsday approach reminiscent of a fire and brimstone preacher, preaching the end, rather than teaching the end is really a beginning.

The sun is dying, winter and death is approaches. Little will grow and the earth becomes hard like rock, food will become scarce and it will become very dark and cold. Fear mounts - our survival is under threat. Will the sun and its warmth ever return? Its primordial fear that this song taps into. Although the truth is, spring will return but the ancient fear and doubt of the child, fearing the dark is under the surface. A cycle or circles has no beginning or end. The sun will return and winter will fade.

My Interpretation

@Jeorne I wouldn\'t disagree with any of that. Yes, as Dio said, the song is about ecological awareness... however, he\'s comparing us to the dinosaurs, and that\'s the part that people most often miss with the lyrics.\r\n"We made the mountains shake..."\r\n"The sky is falling down"\r\nThere are several references to dinosaurs and their extinction in this song.
