Such a great song, such a great band, I wish there were more comments on it. The song appears to be about a child murder, which the cops can't solve or maybe don't even care about since he's an immigrant.
The line "I got the trade
I got the money
And the honey to apologize"
It strikes me as meaningful, but I can't place my finger on what it may mean.
I wonder if the child murder was preformed by the narrator and his girlfriend but the cops are blaming an immigrant instead and perhaps the narrator feels remorseful.

I find the child murder part interesting, its definitely the most grabbing segment of the song, but I have a sense of the narrator pointing out other people's illegal activity too, like the local government pocketing road repair money while taking their time to finish a bridge, possible drunk driving(Beer cans rolling around), etc.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the murder was carried out by the narrator and someone else is getting the blame for it.
