Mmh...here's my take on this. I think it's about a girl who meets a guy that she likes but doesn't feel like she is emotionally stable yet or just not ready in general for a serious thing.
Obviously not wanting to just be friends but taking it slow at the same time.
"Will you tell me once again,
How we're gonna be just friends?"
If he's serious about taking the chance with her then she'll let him in little by little.
"If you're real and not pretend,
Then I guess you can hang with me"
And if he can wait for her until she's ready to be his totally she'll let him have her.

When I'm ready to give in.
Will you pick me up again?
Then I guess you can hang with me"
If he proves himself worthy then it won't go ignored. She knows he's into her and wants her but there's time for everything so just for now, let it be and they'll see how things go.
