A New Argentina-at the alphabetical beginning of the Madonna song list. It's also absolutely her most fiery and passionate vocal performance of her life! Lady Ciccone gives it her all in Evita! At the emotional fulcrum of the march-tempo rocker, Madonna gives the performance of her Ciccone/Peron/Simpson life-"Now I am a worker/I've suffered the the way that you do!/I've been unemployed and I've starved and I've hated it too!...If not/How could he love me?"-I can hear the absolute rage in Madonna's voice. One of many aspects Madonna is and should be known for: She is strident! Yet another Madonna song that cries and rages "A Victim of a Kind of Rage!"-and is all the better for it. According to Robert Sheffield in Rolling Stone-"As a singer, Madonna is underrated!" We all mean it as a compliment. Madonna is one of the best rockers of all time-time immortal and Immemorial because her music is her life. As A New Argentina deftly illustrates, God put Madonna on Planet Earth to do one thing only-give hope to those who are rebellious and oppressed. I'd say she has done a damn good job of it because as the MDNA Tour illustrates, Madonna is going on a trip of the soul from darkness to light. Come to think of it, that's why I love her. Madonna Forever!
