I've had this long on again off again relationship with girl for many years. I can always remember the good times. Every single detail with amazing accuracy. However, there were of course bad times as well. I don't remember some of them at all. Others are just cloudy memories. I think that is what he was talking about. Our brains just seem to block that stuff out, and we forget.
