I think the song is about the end of relationship between two people and the realisation that actually they are too different, the "gap" between them is too great, to work as a couple. The subtitle, "The Sky is Falling In", supports the idea of finality.

"I am up in the clouds...and I can't come down" talks about realising his own failings and inability to change to make the relationship work.

"X will now mark the place Like the parting of the waves Like a house falling into the sea Into the sea" is about the final realisation that it is over, that the relationship has failed - a line in the sand has been drawn.

The last repeating parts alternate between the consequences of continuing with the relationship, "I will eat you alive", and the future apart, "There'll be no more lies" suggesting that the acrimony between the two will be over.

My Interpretation

Yeah, I get it...the gap in looks, age, weight, and all those very important matters. Talk is cheap.
