I just went to one of their concerts recently in a small venue, and they said that the song was actually about their car getting broken into and having all their instruments stolen when they were first getting started. They said that they had a tremendous amount of help getting started back up because they were too poor to afford new instruments, so they met a bunch of people along the way that would donate instruments or help them raise money to get started back up.
