When you're commenting, there's really no point saying it's obvious what the song is about, and then don't even state your opinion. People come on here to find out the meanings of the song, not to find out that other people know what it's about. Just saying. But yeah, anyway. I'm pretty sure this song is about a boy chasing a girl he likes but she keeps getting away.

This probably means by the time he's caught her, he's practically given up, and thinks it's better for her to be with someone she loves. He can never really get over her, but he's giving up the chase, in hopes she'll be coming back for him one day.
That's my perspective of this song anyway.
