Personally I think this song is about addiction and taking a "stand" against it. The part, "some find heaven" deals with how people turn to religion for dealing with an addiction. And "I've come face to face with myself" means he's had to fight himself with the part that wants to get better against the part that wants to give in. "I will not go" and "I will let go" are his two halves conflicting to choose their action. Then the part of "I'm letting go" is him losing the fight to temptation but is then reinvigorated when he says "And I will never back down....Do you hear me?".
