Although this song obviously draws inspiration from other sources, the one that sticks out most to me is the story of how Icarus and Daedalus break out of prison with wings that Daedalus, his dad, made, and his dad says "Now, don't fly too close to the sun, boy."
Of course, since the son knows everything, and the father is obviously a dim-wit, he goes"Pfft, whatever, and flies nice and high so that the heat from the sun melts the wax on the wings, effectively destroying them, and he plummets into the ocean.
Moral of the story: listen to your elders, kids, they know more than you.
