After really listening and paying attention, I feel for a few songs from White Crosses that I can hear lyrics about Laura's feelings as a transgender person. This song in particular has me thinking of it.
"What God doesn't give to you," meaning that she was not born with "the right gears" so to speak, and that in order to fix it she has to take care of it on her own instead of nature. I feel like the second verse especially may relate to this a lot too? I could be entirely wrong about the song, but that's my take of it.
