i think this song was about a guy reminiscing the past, the happy moments he had with the girl. He's losing her because he has repeatedly done much pain to her, took her for granted and she just couldn't take it anymore. He's hurt her a lot so she's walking away. He just lets her go although he doesn't really want to, for he wants her to heal and prevent her from crying and being hurt again by him, this way he could make it up to her.
