I feel like this song is about drugs, but of something like Cocaine or Methamphetamine. As someone who has experienced both said drugs in the past, this really sounds like it could be about either, but particularly meth. Here's why I feel that way...
The song talks about "lift me up to the highest level" and also "I'm not a fiend just persistent.." Meth is addictive, and as you can see by looking at someone addicted to it, they are fiends. The denial of being one in the song is also typical behavior of an addict. Something not common with Marijuana as Marijuana is habitual, not addictive.
Also, "I've been living up the nights in white" could point to Meth or Cocaine as they are both usually white... and "I can taste the bitter leaf.." could refer to the drips after snorting the drug. Meth drips leave an extremely bitter and disgusting taste in your mouth. (cocaine isn't as bad, just makes your mouth numb)
"Take this flask, and kick it back." <it's not uncommon for users to use alcohol to bring themselves back down or to help sleep during withdrawal.
"It won't be easy until she comes back." < Withdrawal is horrific, and this could be a reference to that fact, as if you're addicted the only thing that makes you feel better is doing more of the drug.
"lost in between the lines" <self explanatory.
The reference to looking in the mirror and seeing red eyes is also common for people who use uppers, as they tend to stay up for days straight.
I could be wrong, and I can see how it could seem like it's about Marijuana, but having have tried both, I really feel like if it IS about drugs, it's about something like Meth or Cocaine.
For some reason it left out parts of my comment. lol. * "take this flask and kick it back" it's common to use alcohol to help come down when on uppers, or to ease the withdrawal symptoms.

Just my two cents. =)
