Its not just about war. Its about the war between religions. Its saying that for thousands of years different religions around the world have come up with theories and beliefs to explain what isn't known. And it was through these beliefs that great conflicts and wars have started between these belief systems. For instance, many of the old age pagan religions in Europe believe in many gods whereas many of the religions in Asia only believe in one. Hence between both sides began making attempts of converting or persecuting the other. The Romans persecuted the Christians and then the Christians did the whole Witch Trials thing against the Wiccans. This conflict has never ceased. Even today there is that conflict. Many conformist/fundamentalist Christians, Jews, and Muslims are still not so open minded to other beliefs. And then there's the infamous Varg Vikernes, who has burnt of many European Churches because he believes in a "Europe waking up" and that the Asian religions are infecting the pagan religions. These conflicts have been going on for thousands of years and there likely to continue for thousands to come.
Now the point that Falconer is trying to make is no one really knows what God is like; is he a god of love, wrath, or both; Does he exist in the form of one god/goddess, or many gods/goddesses; Or what side is he really on, or if he's even on a side. And its ridiculous that people have been fighting, converting, and killing each other for thousands of years for beliefs that may not even hold true.
King Diamond is also known for saying that irrefutable truth about religion.
