Risin' up, back on the street Did my time, took my chances Went the distance Now I'm back on my feet Just a man and his will to survive

To me this song is about rising from some type of loss, or defeat so to say and fighting back. The first line reads " Risin' up, back on the street" this nearly means that after he is fighting back to know he can do it. Also, that he can't let things hold him back; he needs to let them go and live on with his life. The next line could be interpreted that he took his time to think about the previous situation and made a final decision to let it go and live on with his life. The line " Now I'm back on my feet" nearly means that he let his defeat past him and moved on and is back to normal. Finally the last line is interpreted, by me at least, that he is alone in his life and fighting for survival both mentally and perhaps even physically.
