This song could have so many meanings, it's so vast. For me, personally, I only think of one thing. It makes me think of a guy making a girl hurt herself because she feels she will never be enough for him. She tries to fix things and "Server ties" but ends up cutting herself. She cries and she's feels a great deal of emotional and physical pain. In the chorus, she is saying that after all that she's done to herself, she realizes that all these marks on her skin from hurting herself will heal in time and will fade. But the scars on her heart are permanent because you can't really fix a heart after it's completely broken. It's like once a heart is broken into a million little pieces, you will never be able to find and assemble every single piece again.
