I'm not 100% sure, but from what I get from the song, the guy has lost feelings for his girlfriend and wants to move on to other things, and has already found someone else who occupies the thoughts and feelings he had for his feelings, but his girlfriend hasn't "woken up" from the dream of their relationship, and can't let go of the man she loves. He tries to leave, but she won't let him go because she hasn't woken up from the "dream".
