I have loved this song ever since it's initial release. It reflects my own life as well, in a somewhat creepy way. When I first heard this song I met this girl. She blew me away. She was everything I wanted, and everything I didn't even know I wanted. Unfortunately, we were both with other people at the time. For years we were on and off, due to either me not realizing she wouldn't wait around forever or her being with someone else. Whenever I was single she wasn't and vice versa. It all came to a head last year. Around September we started seeing each other. I wanted to take this slow but I must've "waited much too long". Come October, I was ready to tell her how much I loved her and wanted to be with her. This was the weekend of my birthday, October 9th. Unfortunately I did wait much too long. The day I was going to tell her, she told me she needed space. That meant, I found out, that she was back with her ex. The day I found out? October. 16th.
