I love all of JM's songs, but this one is definitely in my top 5. There is a sense of wistfulness about it even though there is a lot of doubt. The narrator is talking about a girl who is living a carefree lifestyle and eventually moves away, leaving him behind. He had the choice to go with her, but instead of taking a risk, he decided to play it safe and stay behind. Once she's there, he wonders what it would have been like had he gone with her.
