Ok a lot of people have been saying that Davey Havok has this story that he doesn't want anyone to know, and has been writing about it for a while. I'm pretty sure the ending happened in Crash Love. I wont tell the story out of respect for Dave, but a similar thing happened to me. It involves being introduced to love, before you are mature enough to cope with heartbreak. And this is where I'm going completely off the wall.. I'm study English literature at my university.. and one thing I learned is that a poet must be able to feel things more deeply in order to represent them in the way that they do. This makes a true poet a person with this unique sensitivity. I do believe that this sensitivity to things translates into every aspect of their life. Now.. that being said. I believe that Dave is this way, because his lyrics are that of a poet. This sensitivity to the feelings of heartbreak is what has given him so much success. In a sense his own trauma fuels his lyrics and makes him what we love. The lyrics on the past three albums have shown this. He Sing the Sorrow is essentially about finding the beauty in sorrow and the eloquence that comes from it. He is in a sense stating his case. Decemberunderground seems to be about the way that we feed off of his sorrow and find support in his suffering is actually taking a toll on him. (Just listen to 37 mm) Finally Crash Love is an acknowledgement that the world is going to be the way it is and you don't have to conform to it. Also that sometimes that which we love turns out to be a type of poison to us and we need to break free from our infatuation with whatever it may be in order to move on. I think this song does it. This is Davey finally saying enough is enough. There is closure in admitting that he was wrong and that the object of his affection must be replaced. Though there is the fear at the end. Who will appear when he is gone? If he forgets the things that are killing him.. Who will be there for all of his fans who are still suffering? I believe this to be something the man is facing... and if we are true fans we should just let him go. We should be open to a completely new AFI and not depend on them to comfort us in misery.
