This song is brilliant. To me it seems like it's about a relationship that continues on after the couple have broken up. The first stanza is clearly referring to being drunk and her calling him drunk. The line "You and I, divine but not devout" to me says the relationship was wonderful but they can't seem to stay committed to each other. "You and I, divorced but not devout" seems to be saying the opposite that even though they have split the aren't committed to staying apart either.
