I think this song is about suicide, teenage angst and getting through life's troubles. And when I say 'teenage angst' I am referring to that stage in our adolesant life where we feel we've been through so much and know so much and that those more experienced in life do not understand, or that nobody else has been in our spot before and we are so unique, which sometimes follow through into adulthood.

The first line "Exorcise the demon that is living up inside you", the demon, the 'ugly' that is within all human beings or it could be what parents sometimes refer to when their loving child turns into a rebellious kid thats supports antiestablishment and is against authority figures and parents sometimes think something has come over the child or that a 'demon' has gotten into them.

Also, the second line "After all you think you've been through", could also attribute to the idea of it being about what I am referring to as 'teenage angst'. The fifth line "And you end up on the wrong side, always standing so strong" could be referring to when a teenage stands strongly for something, because they believe they are right but evidently they are wrong. Like when they fight for things such as wearing short skirts or piercings/tattoos, not taking in full consideration the repercussions of those actions, not to say those are wrong but I think there should be a level of maturity and understanding that should be met before allowing a young adult/teenage under a parents care to get any. Or could be meaning how they blindly fight for a cause without knowing the full story, which would knowing the full truth either; change their perspective or make the side they are fighting for wrong... that has been proven to be in more than just teenagers.

I think this song is taking the rougher approach to talking someone out of suicide, like they are goading them, daring them and motivating them at the same time; the Itachi approach for those who understand the reference. Like when you feel like you've messed on something and somebody ridicules you in hopes to motivate you to do better, try again and try harder. "Sharpen up your teeth your dreams are more than worth defending"... Sharpening your teeth to defend anything can be seen as barbaric and savage, a last means or last resort. Which would mean you've expended all others means of defence but will continue to defend it until you have nothing else; that yours dreams in life are worth defending to this extent. "In a fight that's never-ending. Go on, go ahead and prove me wrong" again, prodding somebody to prove him wrong when he says they are "full of shit" and "born to quit". The fight could be life and its challenges, where they come one after the next, never getting a chance to truly cherish a victory because you've got more bombarding you.

I think "You're born to quit" is actually your born to 'check yourself out', your born to commit suicide. It is seen as the easy way out or, 'pussing out'. I think as being fired; being ejected without a choice, would be an alternative to quitting; voluntarily leaving. It is like saying you were born weak and susceptible to being overwhelmed by the problems and challenges of life. Or it could just be that you quit a lot throughout life prematurely; You were born a quitter, you were born to quit. Also hinting to being born weak.

"How they care to demonize the fucked up situation", this could be where the parent{s} try to use a supernatural reason, a matter in which they have no control over to explain their child's behavior; this is a way to relieve themself of the blame for the way their child is acting and their actions. Them listening to heavy metal, death metal, screamo... (I personally have no problem with any form of music, I use to listen to them all myself) 'seemingly' violent or harshly toned music, which could be the child lashing out from neglect, abuse, problems at school, rape... a list of things, which would be the "fucked up situation".

That is just my intake on the deeper meaning of the song, if there is one :P. I could just be overthinking the whole thing.

My Interpretation

I forgot this line.... "How you killed off all the angels taking notice of you." This could be the child burning bridges with people that look out for them; in the flesh angels. And them burning bridges or lashing out against them is severing or hurting the bond between them... so to them they are dead. Hence, killing off angels that took notice, or recognized and acknowledged the teen.
