i love this song. it makes me want to move but also cry at the same time, it has such a great, inspiring, bittersweet energy. i can also deeply relate. i see it as a guy who's relationship has ended, and he still loves the person, he's 'free' now, he has to be, move on, "i must live", but he knows that no other person will match up to that one person, as can be seen in the line, "when they love you, and they will, tell them all they'll love in my shadow", and then at the end of the song comes the slight change to "when they love me, and they will, i'll tell them all they'll love in your shadow" - it's bittersweet because they moved on for unknown reasons but nothing will compare to what they had.
