I think that this song is about a boy that has a relationship with a girl, but he can't touch her without feeling guilty or at least weird. He wants to get rid of that feeling, that's why he is saying that he wants to be "whatever else that touches you". Deep down he knows that the relationship isn't going to work out and last.
