As for the song, I get the notion he might be directing this to his dad and only because while I usually could care less about the life/bio of the artist, I've learned here on songmeanings really awsome things about WHY the artist does what he does and that it isn't just what [I] get from it, it's the life of the person who creates it! This web site is just awsome like some blogs I read, and I would never have known 1. the guy was from Texas or 2. that he was raised in a very strict religious environment! So, that is why I understand this to be about his dad. However, the song is just all warm and fuzzy because of their brilliant use of the guitar!
