The song's meaning is pretty self-evident by just reading the lyrics. The Ocean aren't saying religion is uniformly bad, nor is he condemning those who hold continuing faith in their religion. When they say that "it is not your love I do not accept" they mean they value the morals that religion imparts on the devotees, but instead they turn away from religion (specifically Christianity in this case) because of the literal interpretation of the bible which lends to fanaticism over the years. The running theme seems to be one of living in a humanist fashion with love for the fellow man and accepting the world for what it is rather than waiting for "roots and locusts".
