So essentially this song is about two women and one man. The one woman is the man's mistress and the other is his wife. Well, the wife calls his phone one day and the mistress answers. The mistress/lover/girlfriend (whatever she is!) is angry he is married, and the wife is enraged he is having an affair. The two decide not to tolerate the man's behavior and so they come up with a plan to kill him. They do, but no one learns of their connection. Hence, everyone else saw him as a "good man" and a "good friend". The two women know, however, and they have their own secret of how they killed the man now, just like how he had his secret about the affair and his wife. I love this song by the way.

Not what happened. The wife and mistress knew about each other.

The new number, the one wife called was yet again another woman. A third one.

She was the catalyst for this.

The third woman, both wife and mistress may have figured was the one man would have left them over, leaving both wife and mistress out in cold.

Travel, while your theory is plausible, I don't think there were three, because the bridge mentions the first and last time they met face to face, and the choruses say "But the women in the two black veils didn't bother to cry". Emphasis on two. Therefore, there had to be two that met for the first time, and only two involved.

the secret is the reference to the stephen king book, christine, the car killed him and repaired itself. the car was christine, or like christine. he bought his wife a gift, and his lover, the cars, the wife found out about the lover and the two conspired, and used the 'killer' car to punish his wrongs.

this one is very straightforward.

everyone thought he was a good man because they didnt know of his cheating ways.
