this song is about 2 lovers spending their last moments together as nuclear bombs fall. that's not an opinion, that's what the song is about. it may represent something else to each listener but the intentions of modern english was to portray love at the end of humanity. and mesh and lace was their first album as modern english after they changed names from "the lepers" it's a name drop at the very least, could mean more. but it's most likely a name drop, and a clever one at that. just glad no one was like "it's totally about drugs!"

@midnightcitysky But what does mesh and lace mean in the context of the song? I get that it's a reference to their earlier album but does the lyric make sense? My thought is that mesh and lace are fragile, right, so maybe he's struck by how fragile the world is, as it easily rips apart (as mesh and lace do) in a nuclear blast. As he's making love to this girl.
