This was the first song I heard from Check Your Head. It came out as a single before the album. I had it on cassette because the record store in the town I lived in didn't have it on cd. That single had a lot of great stuff on it. It was practically an ep. Pass the Mic had a soundbite at the end that isn't available anywhere else. But the rest of the tracks are now on the second disc of the 2009 remaster of Check Your Head. After hearing the Pass The Mic single I really didn't know what to expect from the album. It was obvious my favorite band was going through major changes. It's funny how many times the Beasties changed their style & still always made unbelievably great hip hop records. Even the tracks that weren't so hip hop. It was all from a hip hop perspective & everything is danceable-even the punk & alternative stuff. Check Your Head is truly one of the greatest albums ever made-hip hop or otherwise. Here we are 20 years later & it's actually even fresher now than ever in contrast to state of the hip hop industry today.
