By saying nothing" for me it's just the way some parents act. For me that's the explanation of the relationship of parents and child (even more about grown up ones).
You have to deal with each other no matter what, cause you are close in life.
But deep inside you see the love. It's a love and a warmth that tells everything by saying nothing.
And i guess the one who wrote these lyrics maybe talks about a loss of a parent, and now can't find words to say anything cause parent is gone. So, in a manner of speaking, the way that we feel might have to be sacrified cause there's no way telling feelings to a dead cause its too late.
