I guess this song is about someone that is longing for just anybody to recognize him. So he does everything he can to get the attention of the surrounding people but still no one cares for him even if he is not looking for someone to pity him (I don't need your sympathy) but just for someone who is talking to him and does not ignore him. But I think in the end this song is grasping for something way to deep to describe it with words, something that can only be experienced but not be described. And I'm sure experiencing it is painful like hell.
