Red Sam Lyrics

Well this song was defiantly about a connection with God, however it was not the connection between Lacey (Flyleaf's lead singer) and God. What I heard was that, while on tour, a girl walked up to Lacy and she was basically burned down. She (as I read somewhere) had no hair and her ears and nose were burned off, well I don't want to make it something it wasn't so let me just say this is what I remember. Anyway she practically came up to Lacy and said she wanted to share her story. Like most women her dream was to fall in love and get married and be happy. After a while her marriage went, not as planned. They started arguing a lot and soon enough her husband started to beat her. It wasn't long before this girl had started thinking about suicide, and one day she covered herself in kerosene and lighted a match. It was while she was in a corner burning she prayed to God and basically said, "you haven't helped me all this time, so if you do exist and you do care, help me now." She went into a coma but lived and in her perspective it WAS God who had saved her. Because Flyleaf is a christian rock band, she told Lacey this as a way of saying that God does care and suicide is not the answer because some people do have it worse. It's hard to explain but in a way she was saying like Lacey, she did connect to God and she knows how Lacey feels (Lacey also had some problems as a child). For that reason this is one of my favorite songs in the album.

I think you're thinking of the song "Tina" off the Memento Mori album.
