I think the title is rather suitable (although a traditional song) to the meaning. The wind and rain are elements which weather and corrode things like rocks or mountains. Despite being inundated and weathered by the constant bombardment, it eventually is the sister remorse that parallels the symbolism...though she watched her sister drown...after having pushed her into the deep, just as the sisters bones are bleached, corroded and weathered by the elements, so is her sisters soul...

The deaf and blind child can...feel...that her story should be told and so uses her very bones to sing of what her sister had done.

The metaphors are remarkable. I really like this song and is similar to the Andrew Bird song (as many others) but sometimes things have a way of falling into our laps and hopefully they remind...us...
