Has anyone of you read "Hearts in Atlantis" by Stephen King? For me, there is a strong connection between the lyrics and the book. It is a collection of 5 connected stories. The second story takes place in 1966 at the University of Maine. A lot of students are falling behind in their studies, because they´re playing the card game of hearts over and over again. One of the students falls in love for the first time, but the girl is leaving him. Very melancholic.
Ryan once mentioned that he like Kings work. And Stephen King took some lyrics of "When stars go blue" as an introduction to his book "Lisey´s story". Maybe Ryan read "Hearts in Atlantis" and this inspired the lyrics? Anyway, for me it will always be the best Soundtrack to this book. Reading "Hearts in Atlantis" and hearing to this song keeps you thinking for a long long time.
