My opinion in short:
He regrets how indecisive they both been about the relationship. And now it's time for that final decision. After this declaration of Hope and Understanding - either they move on alone - or dive in..
If she doesn't choose him: He will live with the loneliness.
If she does; Comfort her by stealing the cries, and even if he is tormented by the lies - he will endure them++ He'll take her life and harmonize it, by bringing it ashore/level it aground.. and start on something new together.
I think the build-up in the tune tells the story just as clear as the lyrics.
On-again, Off-again. Beautiful melody..
Almost seems less raw/ornamented than many of the songs from Sparta.
Oh well, just a perspective.. Everyone has their own experiences..
That said, someone elses take on this song really appealed to me.
