I can relate to this.

I feel like this is Frank's version of Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer.

Frank loves a woman. Whether or not they are currently in an actual relationship is up for argument. Regardless, he is noticing that the feelings of love between the two are becoming less mutual - "Am I in this by myself?" This, of course, saddens him and is something he would rather not accept. He tells himself "maybe I'm crazy" but he justifies his feelings by noting that even a fool can tell the difference between pyrite and real gold.

He slowly becomes more certain of this feeling as he reflects on her actions and words, and it kills him inside. "I need some time ...[to] cry." By saying "my heavy heart can't carry blame for the loss," Frank is explaining how he had to tell himself she was to blame. To think that something he may or may not have done caused her not to love him is too much for his heart to take on top of that fact.

The last verse is Frank desperately asking the woman to love him again, even when he knows it is pathetic to do so. He's got loads of pride and can't stand to so vulnerably show himself, but he needs to know he tried everything he could to save the relationship, or he will regret it later on. He needs her - she is the enormous sun and he is a puny candle - but her entire mass is burning up before the wax of the little candle is. It's not fair and it doesn't make sense.

Song Meaning

Frank has one word for your interpretation: Ugh

He won't admit this, but I do believe I saw him do an eye roll as well.

He took a long labored breath and then released it slowly. Yup, I know I saw and heard that. No kidding
