The way I see it Dessa is talking about a friend of hers. She admires this girl, but even though everyone is cheering her and her music on to her face, they secretly talk about her abusive relationship behind her back. And because "you have to be big to treat pretty girls bad" Dessa's friend doesn't really stand a chance against this guy, so she say's "It's not much, but my money's on you" saying of course he's going to win if he beats on her. After this abuse Dessa's friend calls her up for "drinks and bad advice", but the girl cycle continues of her getting thrown against and "back to the wall" then going "back to the bar" and looking "back to the drawing board" to see what she can do with herself after.
