Good thoughts guys but I think I have this one.
This is about Satan trying to pry the faithful from God.
Again, I wake to you...Stand up, these feet are so far from clean.
I'm undeserving of the strength in your arms used to save me.
This is what he's thinking just before he falls "asleep", he's speaking to himself first then God, this is the same man from fire dawn I believe. He's keeping himself from God's embrace by labeling himself unworthy.
But years passed when I saw Eve next to me,
she's wrapped in low-cut, dripping sensuality.
When he wakes up Eve is next to him feeding into his past inclination toward lust (In All Honesty) Satan has brought the most beautiful traitor of all, Eve.
I remember the host, but it's been so long since we spoke.
He said, "My son, you can hold perfection in your arms if you wish."
He's weak, it feels like it's been years since he's spoken to God (The Host being Christ in the Eucharist) "He" is Satan tempting one of God's flock. Perfection being Eve.
But I sit at a banquet for traitors
placed here between a thief and a liar.
This is his response to Satans temptation, the thief being Eve (Stole the apple) and a Liar (Satan himself)
But I'll make you the god of a liar
cause I've been both a saint and a viper.
He's saying if he gave in he'd be making Satan the god of a liar, he's been a sinner so by turning to Satan his repentance would be a lie.
I am a lie, just like these traitors that cry for forgiving replies
but keep their grips held tight.
Though my eye's on Eve you're ready to bleed as if I'm royalty
but I am no king. I am no king.
At first he's speaking about those already in hell (I'd say purgatory but I'm trying to avoid getting to theological) who refuse to let go of their sins and past transgressions so they can't meet the Lord.
Then he comments to Satan about how pathetic it is that he is willing to give up something so precious to one as unimportant as him. He is no King.
It was a blood soaked feast that never ceased as his veins dripped empty.
With such violent grace, the waves hit my face
and in painful clarity i turned fearfully...
"What makes you think you can deserve me?"
He's at first speaking about the disgusting feast placed before him, next I believe he's speaking about his love for God breaking through the intoxication Satan has put him in, then he turn to Satan knowing his Father is God says "What makes you think you can deserve me?"
My host fell to His knees as paling lips pushed His plea...
Satan began begging him to reconsider.
By grace uneven, at the banquet portrayed, through death, this life is saved.
But I am no king! I am no...
"Open your eyes, child, your sea is changing"
Because God is so good, through Jesus death his life is saved. The line after shows how quickly after his rebuking Satan that God took him into his arms, so quickly he doesn't get to finish his fearful sentence.
"Open your eyes, child, your sea is changing" This is God telling him he's home now.
